Sunshine Blogger Award

Thank you to jenacidebybibliophile for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award! You should definitely check out her blog, it has lots of lovely bookish things!

I’m pretty new here and I’d never heard of this, but it is such a lovely idea – I’m not great at putting myself out there in a more personal sense, so questions are always a good way to get to know me.

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive, and inspiring, while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

How does it work?

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

And without further ado:

Jenaca asked me:

1. Where do you buy your books? Discount shops, Book outlet, your local bookstore?

Anywhere I find books that snag my attention! Waterstones, Amazon, Book Depository, my local independent bookshop, an independent bookshop in a little welsh town over an hour away… if it’s got books, I’m buying!

2. Which book(s) lit your heart on fire and turned it to a pile of ash?

This is a toughie – A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman had me balling and get through a whole pack of tissues. I think I’ll go for that! I need an Ove in my life!

3. What is your favourite book genre to read?

Fantasy – I can’t get enough! I love escaping to world different to our own.

4. Which books started out as required reading for school, but turned out to be a favourite?

I’m afraid this never happened for me – I could not stand reading when I was younger! The closest book would probably be Hobson’s Choice.

5. Which character(s) do you wish would exit stage left and never return to the story?

Daenerys Targaryen – she just frustrates me, I don;t get all the love for her.

6. What is your favourite read of 2019 so far?

It’s got to be either The Wicked King, Holly Black, or The Winter of the Witch, Katherine Arden. I completely devoured these books, and it breaks my heart that The Winternight Trilogy (Arden) is finished – I need more Vasya!

7. If you could live with any character, who would it be?

Rhysand, hands down. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas is one of my favourite books and I’m actually about to reread it at the time of writing this. I can think of nothing else right now!

Lila Bard from A Darker Shade of Magic by V E Schwab is also another character I’d love to live with. If she’d let you go with her, think of the adventures you’d have!

8. Speaking of living spaces, what book world would you live in?

Velaris in Prythian – also ACOMAF! Why can’t The Night Court be a real place, it sounds so magical!

9. If you were placed in a school that trained you to be a Hero or Villain, would you be trained for Good or for Evil?

The villain always gets the good songs in Disney movies… and I love a good villain… but I’d probably pick good. I wouldn’t have it in me and I’m not a great schemer!

10. I wish it was still Fall, so what is your favourite spooky fall read?

Hmm, I don’t read a lot of spooky books. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, or I remember absolutely loving The Ghost Hunters by Neil Spring (although I’ve never reread it to see how it holds up).

11. Since this is the SUNSHINE award, what is your favourite summer read?

I don’t really have any certain books – I do usually end up reading something more light hearted though, and I’ll usually try and get a classic in for my holiday reading.

About Me

Books and food enthusiast. I discovered a love for reading in my late teens, so you’ll see me catching up on older series quite often. I also love to travel around the UK, where I live, and picking up some crafty hobbies – I hope to share snippets of this amongst all the book content. Other interests include gaming, podcasts, drinking too much tea, and trying to personify autumn.
