NEWTs Readathon TBR

August is soon upon us!

I particiapated in the OWLs Readathon back in April, hosted by the lovely BookRoast, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I managed to exceed my criteria to pass my OWLs by one book – I’ve been in a bit of slump lately though, so I guess we shall see how the NEWTs go!

My chosen career is Hogwarts Professor, which means I need to read a total of 7 books to pass my NEWTs exams – the criteria being:

  • O (3 books) in the subject I’d like to teach (History of Magic)
  • E (2 books) in Defence Against the Dark Arts
  • A (1 book) in two additional subjects of my choice

So, based on this I’ve created the following TBR list:

O in History of Magic

A – Read a Fantasy Nevernight – Jay Kristoff

E – Read a book that includes a map Godsgrave – Jay Kristoff

O – Tom Riddle’s diary: fond memory, re-read a favourite (or read a classic) The Turn of the Screw – Henry James

E in Defence Against the Dark Arts

A – A book that’s black under the duct jacket The Slow Regard of Silent Things – Patrick Rothfuss

E – Gilderoy’s Memory Charm: (grab a pen!) first book that you remembered just now from your TBR Obsidio – Amie Kaufman & Jat Kristoff

A in two additional subjects of my choice

Charms

A – Read a book you think has a gorgeous cover The Binding – Bridget Collins

Potions

A – Polyjuice potion: read your friends favourite book Harry Potter is my friends favourite, so I’ll be reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

About Me

Books and food enthusiast. I discovered a love for reading in my late teens, so you’ll see me catching up on older series quite often. I also love to travel around the UK, where I live, and picking up some crafty hobbies – I hope to share snippets of this amongst all the book content. Other interests include gaming, podcasts, drinking too much tea, and trying to personify autumn.
