I am so so excited that G @bookroast is running another magical readathon – and G’s made the world, Orilium, and lore for it!
It looks absolutely incredible, and the amount of work and effort put into it really shows. As always, it looks flawless and so involved and interactive – make sure you’re following the twitter page, where G has announced plans to post choices throughout that will effect future readathons.
Again, how incredible is this!!! I can’t stress how excited I am over this haha!

The minimum amount to complete is two, but I’m hoping to cover them all off – providing my slump is over… some will also count towards the character creation which is ongoing until the first round proper April next year.
The Novice Path Entrance
read a book with a map
For this prompt I’m going to read Bridge of Souls by Victoria Schwab. It’s the third in a middle grade series following Cassidy Blake as she’s travels the world with her paranormal investigator parents, but unlike them she can actually see spirits. I’ve loved the first two books, and I’m eager to carry on!
Ashthorn Tree
a book that keeps temping you (or top of your TBR)
I’m not sure why I haven’t read it yet, but I’ll be picking up The Girl and the Mountain by Mark Lawrence. He’s one of my favourite authors, and I have high hopes for the series. This is the second instalment of what I believe will be a trilogy – set in the same world as the book of the ancestor series, Abeth. I have to admit it’s not captured my love as easily as Nona’s tale did, but the first had a great ending so hopefully this one will fully hook me.
The Mist of Solitude
read a standalone
In my quest to do multiple things at once, I’m picking Frankenstein by Mary Shelly for this one – as it is The Literary Societies book for September. It will be my third time reading it, and maybe third time will be the charm. To be fair, I did enjoy it more the second time – but I’m still unsure if this one if for me (although I really want it to be!). Maybe the group will help.
Ruin of the Skye
read a book featuring ghosts, haunted house, or other supernatural elements
I’ll be finally reading The Damned by Renee Ahdieh – which features vampires in New Orleans (or at leas the first one did. I’m not actually sure it it remains set in the same city.). I binged the first book in a day, so I’m hoping this will be another quick read.
Obsidian Falls
read a thriller of mystery book
For this one I’ll be picking up Mrs Rochester’s Ghost by Lindsay Marcott. I received this as part of my full moon subscription with Waypoint Books last month and it looks incredible! I also read Jane Eyre last year and loved it, so a modern retelling seems like a great way to dive back in.
Tower of Rumination
read a five star prediction
I have super high hopes for my bookclubs, feast on your tbr, pick for September – The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake. I’m also going to use this for my character creation for the readathon, as its a dark academia – so I’ll be from Darkmeadow.
Orilium Academy Arc
read a book with a school setting
Hopefully Heartstopper Vol. 3 by Alice Oseman is still set in a school (and not over the holidays or anything haha). I lost my physical copy, so it’s taken me ages to get to it. But I’ve picked up a digital copy now, as volume four is out, so I should get a move on! These are so adorable and just melt my heart.
