At last, it is time for the autumn term of Orilium – I adore G @bookroast‘s magical readathons so much, it always feels like a treat when they roll back around.
The premise is that we’re all attending a floating magical academy, Orilium, and we will read books to complete our exams for our chosen callings (i.e. degree). The exams happen in April and August each year, and what calling you choose in April, will also be the same for August – with August’s prompt list being a bit more challenging volume-wise.

Back in April I chose demonologist and will be continuing with this path.
For August, this calling has 7 prompts.
Conjuration | Level Required: O (1 book)
The Foundations of Necromancy | a book with necromantic themes
I tried reading this earlier this year, and ended up DNF’ing about 80% of the way through as I was just in a huge slump. So I’m hoping now will be the time, and I’ll read Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir.
Demonology | Level Required: D (3 books)
Imp Wrangling | read a fantasy
I have a bookclub I’m in who are reading Scourge of the Betrayer by Jeff Salyards this month – so it’s perfect for this one.
Charo: Demon of Chaos | use a random number generator for your TBR books
I still have a lot on my Beyond the Sea TBR – so I’ve used a generator against that TBR and will be reading Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift.
Banishing Spells 101 | book that’s at risk of being unhauled
This was harder, as although I need to do an unhaul I am very bad for unhauling books… I’ve gone with 31 Bond Street by Ellen Horan. I bought this years and years ago, have never read it, and cannot remember a thing about it.
Elemental Studies | Level Required: O (1 book)
Element of Water | start a book with a drink
As this just needs a drink with it – I’m leaving this one open for whatever I feel like mood reading during the month. It will likely turn into what book I choose for MiddleEarth-a-thon.
Spells and Incantations | Level Required: Q (2 books)
Spell: Recolour | use a colour wheel and pick a book matching said colour
I used an online colour picker and got Ochre Brown… a little specific haha. The closest book I have on my shelves is probably the spine of Son of the Storm by Suyi Davies Okungbowa that I got in the Goldsboro GSFF subscription a while ago – so I will be reading this at long last.
Incantation: Echo | find someone else’s TBR and pick a book from theirs
I recently watched Lizzie @LizzieIsElf‘s TBR video so I’m picking one from hers. I’m “echoing” Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine – the premise of this one sounds amazing, and I’m pretty sure it’s been lurking on my kindle for a while now.
